It shuts off automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity, as stipulated by the Ecodesign regulatory norms. Rancilio LAB research and development department has gone even further than this. For us, innovation means operating for a sustainable future. For this reason, Rancilio Silvia E 2019 is equipped with a special boiler wrapped in a foam thermal insulator with a high rate of heat and noise absorption. A feature that enables a significant reduction of energy consumption when the machine is on. In addition, the internal parts of the Rancilio Silvia E 2016 in contact with water do not release toxic substances and do not compromise the quality of the beverage in the cup. The aim is to maintain great reliability and thermal stability.

The Pump:

Rancilio in the New Rancilio Silvia V6 E 2020 EDITION, completely redisegned the structure where the pump is located. In the older version there was a major issue on the stirrup which was often breaking down.
The New Rancilio Silvia V6 E 2020 EDITION brews coffee the same way a commercial machine does. The new Silvia Mod. E even has a commercial size, 58mm, portafilter. The large size of the filter holder ensures the water is distributed evenly through the coffee. This is part of the reason why the Rancilio Silvia Mod. E now is able to produce such good coffee.
The group head and filter holder are made cast brass and are chrome plated. Cast brass is the best way to keep the temperature stable during the brewing cycle because it retains heat, By using cast brass, as is used in commercial machines, the New Rancilio Silvia V.E 2019 EDITION produces shots that rival your best café coffees.
The portafilter comes with a commercial, ergonomically designed handle, as standard equipment. Some other features of the Silvia include a built in cup warmer, hot water dispensing for hot chocolates, tea, and long espresso drinks.

There is a thermostat for the boiler, another for the steam production, and a third thermostat that turns off the power to the boiler if there has been a mal function. This third thermostat can be reset anytime as it is really a circuit breaker style switch. It is located inside the machine so be prepared to remove some screws. Also, the Silvia has a 3 way solenoid valve that releases pressure within the machine once the brew switch is switched off. The New Rancilio Rocky Doserless 2020 Ed. The Rancilio Rocky has been one of the top home Espresso Grinders for years. The addition of the doserless model gives you a fantastic grinder with a chute in place of the doser. The chute reduces the amount of wasted coffee as well as the amount of stale coffee often left behind in dosers. Grind only what you need directly into your portafilter. The doserless Rocky 2018 in this new edition, looks almost identical to the stainless steel Rocky with the obvious lack of a doser. A main power switch is located on the right of the machine. Another "push and hold" switch on the front of the grinder is used to start and stop the grinding. The holding fork for the portafilter handle has been drastically redesigned and provides a very stable platform to grind into. The Rocky 2018 Doserless is the grinder of choice for most finicky home baristas due to its quality of grind and durability. Please note that most coffee grinders are tested at the manufacturer and coffee grounds may be found in the grinder as a result. Rancilio is in the process of updating the look of the Rocky Grinder, it may ship with either a rose tinted or blue tinted bean hopper.

This grinder uses a "chute" instead of a doser traditionally found on semi-commercial grinders. A retaining fork holds your portafilter handles as you grind directly into it. A doserless grinder will reduce wasted and staled coffee by grinding only what you need. No coffee is left behind.
The Rocky can be quickly and accurately adjusted using its 55 different grind settings. To make the adjustment you just push down on a release lever and turn the bean hopper. You can quickly and easily change from course to fine. It can grind your beans into a fine powder for Turkish coffee or espresso and even course enough for French press. The Rocky’s motor is legendary. It is the same motor that Rancilio uses in the Commercial MD40 grinder. It has a high temperature overload switch to prevent possible damage if a stone gets caught in the burrs.
Like the motor the grinding burrs on the Rocky are the same ones that Rancilio uses in the commercial MD40 grinder. They are the flat plate style and 50mm in diameter that are even designed to handle a commercial load.
To turn the grinder on and off you just have to flip the switch that is located on the lower left front corner.
The bean hopper is made of rose tinted plastic that is designed to help keep your coffee fresh. A cover helps seal in the freshness.
