Superb Illy Coffee everytime

I bought this earlier in the year after seeing that Illy did a coffee pod system on a TV programme as this is my favourite coffee, rather than the planned purchase of a Nespresso system. I have to say that I have not been dissapointed, the Frances Frances built machine makes perfect italian coffee everytime. It also is well made, nice to touch and looks great on the kitchen counter. I bought this to replace an existing coffee machine which used loose coffee as I found this gave inconsistent results, depended heavily on the brand and ground size of the coffee, and it's worst feature was a milk system with a plastic nozzle that cross threaded easily making cleaning a nightmare. The Illy system is better in everyway, the machine is fast to heat up, creates the right amount of coffee at a single press of a button, the milk frother creates nice foam and there is no cleaning to talk of. For example the Illy nozzle simply pulls off, comes apart in to two pieces, and then you rinse through with warm soapy water. The whole system is so fast and so easy to use that I haven't drunk instant coffee at home in months now. The machine came with test pods for the Dark (Black) and normal (Red) blends, however after testing a few we found that the Longo (Blue) pods give probably the nicest coffee for a latte. We found the best deal for the coffee was to buy online from the local illy distributor as many of the other sources whilst looking cheaper charge a huge amount for postage making the price per pod overall higher. I recommend the purchase of a small milk jug of less then 500ml, as the 500ml one I bought is a bit too deep for the nozzle, and a thermometer as judging milk heating by time gave patchy results where as the thermometer means the right temperature everytime. I hope more and more people find and buy these machines, they are superb.

Beautiful looking machine (if you like ET); beautiful tasting coffee (if you can stomach the price); the crema is creme de la creme; can be a bit temperamental sometimes (hey, it's Italian - but made in China of course). Just remember to use hot cups (I fill mine with boiling water from my Alessi kettle -oh, name dropper!) whilst Franny is firing up. Grazie mille, Illy.

Just fabulous

This is the best espresso I have ever had, apart from in a little bar just off st marks square. It makes beautiful coffee, is simple to use and looks great in the kitchen. The coffee choices are good and I just wish I had found it earlier. I can't say enough good things about this product.

Avant que je me sers d'un modo mio lavazza qui Ã©tait bon (je vous conseille -4stars) et je l'ai essayÃ© Nesspresso quelques fois (assez pour savoir que je prÃ©fÃ¨re vrai cafÃ©). La disponibilitÃ© Ã cafÃ© Ã dosettes est la plus grande prÃ©occupation, mais il amÃ©liore - surtout quand vous pouvez utiliser Coffeeitalia.co.uk etc. La variÃ©tÃ© de cafÃ© disponible est dÃ©cent et je voudrais encourager les gens Ã essayer tout ce qui illy produits pour trouver ce qui est le plus satisfaisant. Mon favori actuel est le cafÃ© brÃ©silien de leur gamme de l'origine unique. Je souhaite juste que Coffeeitalia.co.uk serait stocker toute la gamme au lieu de devoir acheter ailleurs.

Viel besser als Nespresso

Viel besser als Nespresso ist Geschmack besser, keiner der 600 Sorten von mehreren farbigen Kapseln, die allen schmecken genau dasselbe. Es ist sehr leicht zu reinigen und wenn Sie den Geschmack, aber keine Summen wollen, die entkoffeinierten Kaffee schmeckt mindestens genauso schÃ¶n wie der regulÃ¤ren. Der einzige wirkliche Nachteil ist, dass die Kapseln sind ein wenig teurer, und Sie mÃ¼ssen noch eine Weile warten, wenn Sie einen anderen Kaffee zu machen, nachdem Sie den Dampfer verwenden mÃ¶chten. Ansonsten perfekt.

Je l'utilise une machine Ã expresso Â£ 3500 dans mon entreprise avec une qualitÃ© supÃ©rieure, du cafÃ© fraÃ®chement moulu. A la maison, je l'utilise le X7. Je bois de meilleurs expresso Ã la maison. L'amour de la gamme de dosettes, y compris les variations de monoarabica, qui sont disponibles Ã partir de EspressoCrazy. Oui, la buse de vapeur est un peu limitatif, mais je adorer cette machine - et ont eu pour prÃ¨s de 4 ans sans aucun problÃ¨me.

can't agree with other reviewer - great machine

I can't agree with your other reviewer, who I'm guessing is a bit of a coffee obsessive/barista (and nothing wrong with that) - in my experience, the X7.1 delivers great coffee, every time. It uses capsules so it's aimed at the occasional domestic user who wants fresh coffee on demand (rather than opening a can of ground coffee, taking a while to use it up and having it go past its best). The time to switch from normal coffee mode to "ready to steam milk" for cappuccino seems to be a feature of all domestic machines as (unlike professional machines) they all use the same boiler for both temperatures. I've not found the time delay an issue on the X7.1 as there is an automated function to vent steam & return from steaming to coffee making temperature in a few seconds (it's in the manual). Overall, for convenience, space-race looks and (most importantly) great tasting coffee I would recommend this machine. If, like the other reviewer, you're aiming to be a barista and dive into the world of different roasts, grinds, milk frothing methods and so on, then you will want to look for a machine which uses ground coffee.
