GAGGIA espresso machine GD two groups automatic

Product Description

The Gaggia GD 2-Group espresso machine is a solid choice for busy venues. It features an ergonomic, spacious working area to let the barista brew, steam and froth with ease. Performance and convenience go hand-in-hand with this fully automatic espresso machine. Each brew group has four programmable and one manual coffee button to allow for versatile use. The innovative Gaggia GD also has a separate area for dispensing hot water to make it easier for the barista to prepare hot cocoa, tea or an Americano. Fast-paced environments looking for an adaptable machine would do well to consider the Gaggia GD 2-Group.

Brewing
With two autonomous brew groups, the Gaggia GD lets the barista multi-task as needed to keep pace with steady guest traffic. A 13-liter copper boiler, dedicated heat exchangers and a 165-watt Procon pump keep the GD well prepared for brewing and frothing operations. The group heads are made of heavy-duty chrome plated brass and are equipped with thermostat-controlled brew group heaters to deliver temperature-stable brewing environments. For easy tracking, there is digital display option is available to show the total number of drinks made per coffee button.

Electric Cup Heater
The GD 2-Group Machine has an integrated electric cup heater. Cups can be set directly on top of the machine to be pre-heated. The cup warmer can be turned on or off as necessary.

Steaming and Frothing
There are two stainless steel steam wands on opposite sides of the machine, each mounted on ball joints and can be rotated to accommodate different-sized frothing pitchers. The steam wands both feature four-hole steam tips for your convenience. The GD is also compatible with the Gaggia Cappuccinatore (not included) to allow for automated frothing capabilities.

Hot Water Dispenser
Unlike most espresso machines, the Gaggia GD 2 Group has a dedicated hot water dispenser mounted right next to the brew group to let the barista easily dispense hot water for a variety of drinks. Since the dispenser is built into to the front of the machine, cups can be set directly onto the drip tray. Furthermore, a mixing valve eliminates steam output from the hot water dispenser for safe operation. The mixing valve can be turned on or off, which will deliver even hotter water.

This is also my best espresso machine in 15 years

This is my third espresso machine in 15 years (the other two were NOT Gaggia). This is also my best espresso machine in 15 years. One must learn and practice the art of a barista to create the perfect espresso with this machine--but a perfect espresso is what you get. If you are passionate about espresso (cappuccinos especially ;^) and wish to experience that love at home AND are able to give the attention a quality espresso deserves, then this machine is for you. It takes a little time and a little effort to learn the proper grind and tamping pressure--once that is accomplished (not a difficult task) one can easily claim to make the best espresso in the county--(at least equal it)!

Good machine.

A great machine. No issues at all, it needs to be cleaned a few times a year, and makes a nice hot, espresso.

Easy to use, real Italian Espresso, use your own Fresh ground coffee

Wow! This is very good! Grind up your own coffee and get the frothy, creamy foam from nothing but pure ground coffee the way Italian espresso is supposed to be. I am very pleased. I have a cheap automatic steam espresso machine too that burns the coffee and doesn't have the frothy bubbles like the Gaggia Espresso Machine can do. I give this 5 stars because it is easy to use, produces a real Italian Espresso, and you can use your own fresh ground coffee of choice.

Highly recommended

Outstanding machine - easy to use and brews a fine espresso. We had a very expensive, built in, all the bells and whistles machine and this is much better.

Great espresso and priced right.

Simple and reliable.

This coffee machine worked great for our family more then 7 years. Coffee quality was always good w/o any complains. It is very simple, has no electronics (all electric parts are switch and pump) and because of that it is reliable like Colt revolver. Only moment you need to take into consideration: this machine requires soft water. This is pure 5 stars machine, worth every cent it price.

Good but needs a moveable steam wand.

Good machine except the wand doesn't froth the milk very well and it can't be moved so there is little room to actually get enough milk in the jug for a BIGGER cup.

Excellent coffee with Grinder

Love this machine. Don't forget, you HAVE to have the Gaggia grinder to make a perfect espresso. Fresh ground coffee with the right grind is the only way to get a beautiful crema... and this delivers!

Coffee king,

Really excellent quality, for a product that will perform time after time, this is the machine.

Gaggia classic is a class act

Four stars for quality build and construction of materials. Don't expect instant success but keep practising to achieve coffee shop quality lattes and cappuccinos. Essential to buy cleaning products to back flush machine. Research on many websites and coffee forums to find out more . One star lost for gaggia don't mention this in their blurb. However I'm thrilled with my new machine and love trying out different bean blends in it.

Good entry machine

The Classic does not disappoint as it is great value for money. Its construction is solid it looks the part and makes really good coffee. Only point is it needs some 15 minutes before the boiler water temperature is steady and that its water pressure seems calibrated higher than 9bar. Overall a great product. I had water leaks on mine but I consider this to be a rare incident.

Gaggia repairs now happening again.,

I loved this machine but worried about how I would get it fixed when I broke it after 2.5 years as Gaggia had gone bust. So I reviewed it as "Was good. Now take care" as Phillips didn't seem interested in post warranty work. They did refer me to a third party Saeco Gaggia Service Ltd and they fixed it at a fair price and its back in operation within 2 weeks. Hence I'm changing my overall review from 3 to 4 stars (when it does work its easily worth 5 stars).

Happy with purchase,

Loving the coffee our Gaggia machine makes. Very easy to use. Only negative is that we had to buy a separate filter basket (highly recommend getting one from Happy Donkey) as the ones supplied have a tiny hole to fake the crema effect & easily (everytime we used it) become blocked with a tiny bit of coffee grind.

Sharleen

Wake up and smell the coffee,

I bought this as a Christmas present for my partner and it was well received! I took me a couple of goes before I made a really good cappuccino, but it is apparent you really need good quality coffee and a little patience for it to warm up properly (takes 5 or 6 minutes). It is perhaps a little loud when 'brewing' the coffee and has a tendency to vibrate the cups causing them to move (but I am using very light cups!). But this is a minor gripe because it is a really easy machine to use and the milk frother is also pretty good too (so long as you have the machine at the edge of the working surface to be able to remove the frothed milk easily without pouring it everywhere. So far I haven't felt the need to buy an expensive metal frothing jug nor a replacement tamper either! It's now lasted a couple of months of heavy use and is holding up well.

The steam wand has never been good on this machine,

The steam wand has never been good on this machine. There are much better steam wands on other machines. Luckily I don't drink cappuccino. Most of it is the same old Same old. Solid brass filter holder. Makes all the right noises. Makes great espresso (if you leave it on for a while), looks great, lasts 10 years. However they've let themselves down with the new-fangled crema device. Yes it creates crema where none previously existed (if you have the wrong grind or stale beans) but for decent beans/grind you get a better more natural crema with the old version. Luckily I had the old-style filter without the plastic crema device, so I was able to put these new-fangled bits in the drawer where they will stay.

capable machine.,

I've been using a gaggia classic daily for about 6 months. Compared to the price of other espresso makers on the market you are getting a very capable machine for the money. Using fresh roasted and ground beans you can get a strong espresso with good crema every time. The point where the more expensive heat-exchanger and double-boiler machines score over a single boiler model such as this is on temperature stability. It is possible to time your shot to get close to a stable temperature for each shot but if you want serious temp stability then you have to pay 4 times as much. Steam performance is not bad for a machine this size. All in all good value for money.

Good machine but...........,

I've had 3 Gaggia now but it's time for a change. I started with the Baby Gaggia and must have been pleased enough to go to the Classic but frankly these machines only last about 18 months even when regularly descaled. My first classic broke down in warranty and although Philips give an excellent service it's still a pain being without your machine. Again must have been happy enough to have bought another Classic but that again broke down in warranty......... The problem is the Classic makes excellent coffee - when it's working So what to do when the Gaggia started to play-up just before Christmas; get another one or spend over twice as much? I bought the Rancilio

Steven Foster (UK)

Does not seem as well made as my first one,

This is my second Gaggia Coffee Machine, the first was faultless until the pump gave up the ghost after giving long a faithful service. The new one I bought from Coffeeitalia in Jan 2013 seemed to have a problem shutting off the steamer, which I thought at the time was minor and would hopefully cure itself. Wrong, its just got worse and that is my own fault for not returning. The coffee making ability of the machine is great, but now have concerns that the built quality may have slipped from the original. My suggestion is if it has a minor fault return it.
